The HFC Commerce Union has come a long way since its institution in 1978 by Ms. Sriangani. The main aim of the union is to develop the knowledge of commerce among our students (and to give them that basic commerce knowledge) in a different way.

We have our meetings on the third week of each month during the last two periods. During the meetings we have quizzes, debates, puzzles and much more. We also organize the Annual Commerce Day.

The last meeting of the Commerce Union was held on the 30th of January 2009. The first task in the agenda was to welcome the incoming committee members. This was done by the outgoing committee members. This was followed by the outgoing president Inakshi who delivered her final speech thanking the teachers and members. The incoming president Achithri Silva thereafter took the floor and thanked the students and teachers for voting for her and the other members of the new committee. A general knowledge Quiz was thereafter held for the grade 12 classes and 12 Commerce B emerged winners of the Quiz.
