Philatelic Club As a member of the executive committee of the philatelic club of holy family convent Bambalapitiya, I wish to place before you the activities our club, in our school and outside school. On the 23rd and 24th October 2008 we represented our selves by providing exhibits for the royal college stamp exhibition. It was a great experience for us to work together with students of other schools. The month of October 2008 was a strenuous period for the members of our club. We participated in a work shop organized by the Sri Lankan philatelic society which was held in collaboration with the federation of international philately (FIP) in order to enroll 3000 schools as members of this society. Through this workshop we were made aware of the financial and the education importance of collecting stamps. Some recognized schools in Colombo and out station, also participated in this workshop. We were invited to participate in an exhibition and a competition organized by the philatelic club of Sri Lanka. We proudly participated in this competition by forwarding exhibits in different categories. This exhibition was opened to the public on the 5th and the 6th of December 2008. Continuing the laborious work done by our past committee member we enrolled new members for our club, and I am happy to state that we are planning to organize an exhibition in 2010. Finally I would like to extend my gratitude to Rev. Sr. Chandani Jayasuriya, Mrs. Premila Thivaharan and Ms. Kumudini for their unstinted support, contribution, advice and guidance given to us for all these activities.
